A major part of SEO revolves around identification of keyword or key phrases and incorporating them into the website content in such a way that search engines identify them easily and place your website high in their rankings. There are numerous ideologies on which SEO professionals work but let me discuss a few simple points which are also effective and have helped with my website ranking.

Be very specific about your content. Keep in mind what unique your content or the title of your content offers so that search engine spiders can identify them properly. For example, a title with ‘SEO’ is too competitive as there may be millions of websites with SEO as a common keyword, but SEO copywriting, SEO companies etc, can prove to be more useful.

The content should be unique. Be extra careful that no two pages of your website offer the same content. Not only this is wastage of resources, search engines may treat repetition of content as search engine spamming and may penalize your website.

Currently, much emphasis is being given to link generation. This means linking your website with other similar websites with a common set of keyword or key phrases. Proper linking will give your website a tremendous boost. But make sure that you are linking to similar websites only. A single link to a related website is more effective than multiple links to irrelevant websites.

You should not be overzealous when linking. SEO is not an instant process. Results take a month before showing. Moreover, generating hundreds of links on a same day may make search engines think that you are deceiving them. A good idea is to go for one link a week or a month. Moreover, links should ideally be from the home page, not related pages.

Another important thing that SEO professionals often overlook is the relevancy of websites. A software company linking with a pharmaceutical company is of no use.

Follow the basics and SEO will surely give you your desired results.
