| What is a Pay per Click Search Engine? |
|
A pay-per-click search engine is one that sells its ranks. If the owner of a company wants to get his website enlisted in a pay-per-click search engine, he has to open an account with that particular search engine by paying a certain amount. After this he can choose and bid on the keywords related to his business or services.
Once done, every time a person searching on the internet searches with those specific keywords the company's listing is displayed at the position he has bid for and clicks on the company's links, the bidding amount is deducted from his account. A pay-per-click search engine is also referred to as "pay-per-ranking", "pay-per-placement" or "pay-per-position" search engine.
Most of the pay-per-click search engines stipulate a minimum amount to open an account with them. However, there are companies where do not have to pay at the time of opening the account.
They pay only when a surfer clicks on their sites. Moreover, some pay-per-click search engines partner with some other websites in such a way that their paid listings are displayed in their partners' results as well. The reason is why having an account with a pay-per-click search engine has become a smart way to draw targeted traffic to a website. |
