The Challenge
www.pearlwear.com is an online wholesale distributor of freshwater pearls, pearl necklaces, Tahitian pearls, black pearls, coin pearls, black beads, turquoise, corals, gemstone, vintage pendant and other pearl items.

The client wanted the website to be promoted in the best possible way to achieve the maximum return on investments. For this, getting the best possible ranking on Google.com (GL=US) was necessary because the Google handled most of the traffic on the web. A high ranking would increase visibility, which would automatically take care of traffic and the core business of the client.

The Response
The team started working on the project by first identifying the keywords for which the website had to be optimized and then zeroed on the core pages were required to be targeted by those keywords. The major challenge, however, was that the site, by virtue of its construction on Oscommerce, was not search engine friendly. To add to that the generated URLs were also dynamic, so we started the task by re-writing the dynamic URLs into static URLs so that search engine can understand the value of a page. We then proceeded with creation of sitemaps for the website with new URLs of the pages and submitted them in the various search engines to index the website once again.

Moreover, the site also lacked sufficient space where keywords and SEO identifiable texts could be integrated. To counter this, the team had to make keyword centric title-metadata for the home page as well as for the landing pages; we also participated in a list of off-page activities for the website like blog posting, article submission, directory submission, social bookmarking, RSS creation and submission. This was followed by a series of other on-page and off-page optimization steps to get the best possible results for the website.

The Result
The efforts put in by the team paid off in terms of results that were desired.
