March 24, 2011 - While carrying out a search, sometimes you've a fair idea as to what all do you want to see and what not. Features such as Instant Previews and Google Instant facilitate faster scanning of results and find out exactly what's being looked for by the searcher. The changes in last week added to the interactivity of Google thereby rendering it easier and faster for you to search desired results even while on the go, searching for videos or trying to weed-out search results that are not helpful.

Instant Previews

Video – Of course, we all want to spend lesser time searching for the videos than watching them. To make video watching real fun for you, Instant Previews is now bestowed with the ability of previewing videos. Just click on the magnifying glass adjacent to the title of any video search result in video or universal mode. For some of the videos, you can now even play them through the four short segments' set from the video to check whether it's the same what you were searching for.

Mobile – To make searches easier for the mobile users, Instant Previews enables faster search in the form of web page snapshots. The results in the form of snapshots can be visually compared with no need for the user to go back and forth between the search results and websites. For using Instant Previews, you need to go to the Google homepage on your iOS (4.0+) or Android (2.2+) device. Then you just need to tap on the magnifying glass appearing next to any search result. Scroll across the previews by simply swiping using your finger and the moment the desired page is located tap on the preview to immediately land on the webpage. Try searching for anything you want on your phone. The results' preview makes it easier and faster to search anything you want to search online.

Hide sites and personalize your searches

Did you ever click on a search result and then returned to the Google page for searching another one? Often, this would happen either when the result isn't as desired or may be since the site itself was of low quality and offensive. Google now allows you to personalize your search results and also gives you the option to block sites which you find of no use to you. As you click on a search result and return Google, there would now appear a link to let you block the websites you don't want to see in future. Once clicked on the link and confirmed, the domain would never ever appear in your search results in future.

Next time when you carry out a search that displays the results from sites which you had blocked, there would also be a message informing you that the results are hidden from view. You would also be able to manage the list of blocked sites from a separate page that's accessible through your Search Settings when you see a blocked search results reminder or block a web site.

Information is virtually exploding on the internet for over a decade now. You get everything right from blog posts and videos to real time information online. However, on thing still remains all the same and it's your time. The recent changes in Google provide you with more control on the information you would find on Google. Hence, it becomes easier for you to decide the searches that are relevant for you.
