San Francisco, Oct 11, 2010 - Google officially declared the acquisition of Metaweb, a large open database that works for better and relevant results for its users. The search engine leader that continuously studies its user psychology and creates algorithms that can get the most relevant results quickly has realized that its users are not only looking for textual data but other forms of information as well.

Today, all major search engines present information before their users in the form of images, videos, presentations and status updates etc., and with this acquisition, Google plans to make the results much comprehensive. The introduction of Caffeine for fresher results and now acquisition of Metaweb would not only make Google search richer but also more real and more meaningful for its users.

The size of the Internet is exponentially increasing and users need to type longer search queries to get specific results. Integration of Metaweb database might help Google to answer logical search queries like “colleges on the west coast with tuition under $30,000” as shared by Jack Menzel, Director of Product Management, through Google’s official blog.

Metaweb’s open database called ‘Freebase’ includes more than 12 million entries comprising movies, books, TV shows, celebrities, locations, companies etc. Freebase would continue to operate like before with more support from Google.
