San Francisco, 9 March 2010 - Google has recently acquired an online photo-editing tool called ‘Picnik’. This application is a forerunner in web based photo editing and is around since 2006.

According to Brian Axe, a Google product management director no changes in Picnic are announced yet, but Google might have plans to integrate new features in the future.

‘Picnik’ currently works with photo sharing sites like Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket etc., along with Facebook and Myspace photos. Google too intends to maintain the integration, according to Axe. Going by Picnik’s statistics, it has approximately 40 million visits in a month. The visitors spend an average of 17 minutes on the website.

With Google’s acquisition, it expects a wider user base in future.

‘Picnik’ will continue to perform its operations from Seattle but will be shifting to Google’s office soon.
