California/New York, 7 December 2009 – Google has announced integration with Twitter through its open social application called 'Google Friend Connect' (GFC). There are about nine million sites that are presently supported by GFC and the service would allow users to log in to their Twitter accounts from any of these sites.

After users login to their Twitter account on any of these websites, their Twitter avatar will be displayed and they can further tweet about any activity that they perform on the website.

There is nothing extra that the users need to do to enable this service. Once integrated, it will work automatically.

Google’s announcement comes within few days of a declaration made by Yahoo on its deal with ‘Facebook Connect’ service that would allow Yahoo mail users to share their online content on Facebook, starting from the first half of the next year. The ‘Facebook Connect’ service was launched earlier this year with a preview of Facebook updates (called as ‘News Feed’ on Facebook) on Yahoo home page.

Deals like these indicate that even big brands like Google and Yahoo are planning to use the power of social media to enhance their business prospects.
