PPC Facts
PPC is also known as pay per click. There are numerous advertisements talking about the advantages of PPC, how generous returns on investment they bring, etc. but there is a darker side of it too. I wonder if at all PPC is so lucrative a deal for all websites. Agreed that PPC can bring tremendous benefits if used effectively, but it may turn out to be a blunder if not understood properly. Hence, a basic understanding of PPC and how PPC works is desirable before choosing to go with it.

PPC allows the advertisement of a website on a search engine’s page based on a specific keyword or key phrase. The advertiser has to pay when and only a visitor clicks on his advertisement and gets redirected to his website. In case a visitor clicks but does not enter the website then the advertiser doesn’t have to pay. This is the reason why it is called PPC, because the entire process starts once a visitor clicks on that specific advertisement.

PPC advertisement is done based on bidding. An advertiser has to submit the maximum bid he is willing to pay to the search engine for the keyword or key phrases. When a visitor searches for the particular keyword or key phrases which are also your keyword or key phrases, your website will be listed on the search engine page as sponsored link. What ranking your website get however depends upon the bid you have placed. If your bid is the maximum then your ranking is the highest and vice versa. Hence, considering the amount you can afford to bid is absolutely crucial before you go for it.

Something you should be aware of is PPC frauds. It is not unusual that your competitors click on your advertisement numerous times and turn you bankrupt. However, major search engines keep a strict vigil on such types of frauds. So, in case you see more than expected clicks on your advertisement be sure to report it to the concerned search engine. They will surely do something about it.

However, to be on the safer side, plan your budget carefully. Everything in PPC revolves around Keywords and key phrases. Be over cautious about your bidding amount. It is not necessary that you have to bid the maximum to remain at the top, lower rankings show overwhelming results. There are millions of visitors who are visiting search engines and be sure that even a lower rank will be visited.
