An attractive and high ranking website is what destines the existence of your business. Yes, it is only elegance and ranking of your website in famous search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and Bing that let others have easy and quick access to you & about your business.

A lot have been changed in the SEO scenario since the search engine giant updated its algorithm; first to penalize websites with poor quality links, next to penalize websites with poor quality content. And a lot have been said and done since then.

As Google has refreshed it's algorithm recently, known as Penguin 3.0, so we thought also to refresh what to be done, and what not in such scenario. So, here it is, a few myths you need to know …

MYTH 1 - Getting a high rank is what SEO is all about

Although every business wants to see its website achieving a high rank on all leading search engines, it does not necessarily mean that a site with lower rank will surely be out of the business. Opposing to this popular myth, SEO experts have pointed out the fact that websites appearing in the second or third page of Google or Yahoo are equally important than those appearing in the first page. Thus, companies instead of fighting to seal the top spot on search engines should give more importance to cater to the needs of their targeted audience. The companies must work on their site content and links to attract maximum readers and retain them for a longer period of time. A website with a good content and increased online traffic is bound to achieve the top position on all search engines.

MYTH 2 - Good SEO means more inbound links

Companies who have practiced adding maximum inbound links to their page now needs to abandon this strategy for the better. Google has already penalized millions of companies that have ‘stuffed’ inbound links without having quality content in the pages. Online businesses must have original, informative content with inbound links relevant to your site content.

MYTH 3 -Keywords are no longer significant in SEO

Contrary to what most businesses have started believing, it is worthy of remembering that keywords are still very much important in search engine optimization. However, the traditional method of keyword stuffing will no longer work. What companies can do today is hiring a professional SEO company in India that will perform in-depth analysis and use only those keywords that are relevant to your company and its products or services.  Try to add easy-to-understand, highly informative content in all your web pages and use keywords in a smart way in the heading, sub-headings and within the content without being repetitive.

MYTH 4 - SEO and social media have no connection

Leading search engines - Google and Bing have started using data from popular social media sites in order to determine the ranking of a site.  For example, your website rank is decided by Google taking into account the number of tweets or likes your site has received within a specific time. Search engines are laying importance on social media data since they believe if maximum people share a piece of information, it is ought to be useful and good. Thus, your SEO team needs to work hand in hand with the social media marketing team to include quality content on your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Google+ page to get maximum votes and improve your site’s search engine ranking.

MYTH 5 - Submitting a website to Google is necessary

Online marketers can submit a website on Google by using Google webmaster tools. However, this submission process is not mandatory and in no way hampers your site’s ranking on Google. It is a big myth that submitting websites on Google helps to achieve a high ranking. Google’s crawlers will find your site as soon as it is live and based on the quality of your site content, you website will be ranked.

So, the crux of the matter is ‘content’ still is the ‘king’ - and qualitative practices still hold the key! But above all, to stay out of harm’s way – and to remain unmarred of the confusion about what’s right and wrong - it’s preferable to have an SEO expert by the side in your online marketing endeavor.
